A long train journey...

After a long time, I am in a train again for more than one day journey. I can remember my last train journey. It was in the beginning of 2006, may be Jan end or beginning of Feb from Bangalore to Howrah in the same train I am today, Yashvantpur Express.

Recap...

I was in Bangalore for CDAC interview. I was unemployed that time; searching for a job. Me and my dad reached Bangalore at around 8 o’clock in the morning. Very next day was my interview. After that a day break and then my return journey was planned. Oh I was all alone during my interview date because my dad leaves Bangalore the same day we arrived.

One of my friends called me on the evening of the interview and inform me that we had an offcampus interview for CTS. So, I should board on the very next day of the interview, otherwise I would miss the opportunity.

I came to station in the morning; book a tatkal ticket (which was waiting list too). In the afternoon, I carry my language and went to the station. I cancel my other ticket and board into the train.

My ticket was not confirmed yet. So I talk with a TT and failed. He told me tatkal waiting list.. No one can do anything.. Being an enthusiastic person I search for a vacant seat and slept.

After a few hours, another TT came and shakes my leg and asks "hay! Why are you sleeping here?" I show my ticket, and he told me "there are passengers for this seat, and will board from the next station." Even after saying so he told me to stay there and few minutes back he came and allocate a seat for me. I was feeling lucky that time. However, he asks me "where are you going?" I understand his intention. He wanted few bucks for his service. I told that I was there for an interview, and he just do not ask for any money. Strange! But Yaa may be because I am a student he does not ask for it... But that was all I can remember about my last journey..

--- o o ---

Now, in this journey I had a RAC ticket. That means I can sit at least. Last night I boarded in the allocated coach and sit with another person allocated on the same seat.

Then the person of seat number 48 asks me to do a favor. And that is to take their confirmed seat and give the RSC seat to them. Yes you heard it correct. They want to exchange their confirm seats with our RAC tickets. They are actually 3 friends one from Bangladesh, who is talking with me for the deal, and other two are from may be vutan, japan, manipur.. I won't know.. I won't ask.. But, they do not understand Bengali, not even hindi. They understand only english. These persons got the seats in the different end of the same coach. Now they want to stick together. So they offer me their seat.. And what else is required for me.. I need to sleep, and they need to stay in awake. So deal final. :) :) :) What say?? I am lucky again?? Yaa I am lucky again.. :) :) :) :)

My First International Conference

Hello, all of you... It’s a long time, since I wrote my last blog. For last 6 to 9 month I thought of writing something; and come up with nothing because of my busy life. Today December 20th 2009, returning from Bangalore, I get few times to spend with my mobile office. So I decided to write something.

The garden city Bangalore; this is my 4th visit; for an international conference, ADCOM 2009. It was important for me in two ways. First of all, my very first paper "An Efficient Algorithm to Reconstruct Minimum Spanning Tree in an Asynchronous Distributed System" was published in the conference; and second cause was it focuses on Green Computing. People who know me can easily understand why GREEN is so much important to me; for others I may write another blog in another time. Wait until then ;)

Let me share my feelings with you. Since was there for presenting my paper for the very first time in front of so many knowledge hunters, tension was mounting as the time came closer and closer. However, I enjoyed some great presentation from some key note presenters; also slept during some presentation ;)

One and half day was over, all great people was sharing their thoughts of latest technology trend and green computing. An industry session on Green Data Center was scheduled just before the start of technical paper presentation in the afternoon of day 2. As I already told you, it was my first time in such a conference. So, I won’t have any idea how these sessions are organized and how much quality require in the presentation. When I was attending these presentations, I found that it is not very important that how you present, it is more important that whether you're getting few suggestions from the other technical people working on the same field or not.
I prepared for the presentation and present my paper in the morning of very last day of the conference. And yes I got few valuable suggestions; one from a very senior member of ACS. So, I think my presentation was right on the spot. ;) Hay obviously I am considering this was my first time. Otherwise it requires lot more improvement.

Anyway food was nice. I always like south Indian food because for 3 or 4r day in a year with different food habits make you feel good about taste. However, the more important thing in conference was, I make 2 friends. They are good; they share their view and suggest some valuable idea about my future research plan.

So, at the end if I tried to count the cost effectiveness of my visit; I can say it was a balanced journey. Today returning from the green city, I am caring a green mind and a green energy with me. Hope this help me on my future works.

59 Hours of terrorism – War against the culture of a spiritual nation

I don't have much more details other than "it was more than 59 Hours" about the terrorist attack of Mumbai happened last week. Again this week, sound of gun shots scare people at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi. Thousands of peoples were killed by this kind of terrorist attack in last few years. General people of this nation are scared. Scare to go out in the road; scare to outing with family. Is this something new we are fighting with? Hmmm..... I try to collect things. And the answer come to my mind is "No". India has a long history of external attacks. External forces always try to capture our nation, our wealth. But they won't able to change our culture, our believes, our trust and our spirit.

Yesterday, means Friday 05th December 2008, I was on my way to home. Sealdah station, one person sited beside me, an average looking guy of age around 25. He was carrying a bag. Umm, the bag was slightly bigger than average daily passenger. Sure, this person is not a daily passenger. Suddenly, he put his bag on the sit and asked me to watch it. He said, he will come back within a moment after purchasing some foods. First question came into my mind was "Should I trust this person?" and next "Why not?" We used to trust people, we used to trust humanity, we believe on words and most importantly we have faith on our believes from the core of our soul. Obviously, I go with our culture; a more than 3500 year old culture. Some of you may have different opinion about my decision, but the outcome was not harmful at all for that scenario.

At night, when I was thinking about the situation, the question became more complex. Does those militants succeeded in their intention? Is this war is against our administrative bodies or against our culture? Do they able to break our spirit (spirit of loving each other)? "Answers?" - We need to decide; "We" the warrior of this "Mahavarat".
